Day 22: Can you feel submissive without a dominant partner? If so,
how does your submission express itself? If not, how do you handle your
submission or submissive feelings?
I've known Sir since I was 14 - I married Him when I was 17. *I'm now 36 - well, 37 on Saturday* And even in the beginning, we had the a very natural D/s relationship. We just never knew there was a whole world out there with different labels, dynamics, communities etc.
The day we had discovered that, it was like a huge light bulb came on. And many things just fell into better place for us. We read and read and researched each dynamic, found what all worked for us. Rules came into place, discipline, punishment, structure etc. We haven't looked back since. So, I wouldn't really know. But with Him being a soldier all these years, there has been many times of Him going away, and when He was gone - my submission never lessened. I am so naturally submissive, that I think my submission would be there either way. It's not something I can just turn off inside of myself.
And to quote Forrest Gump.."That's all I have to say 'bout that..." :P

Now that I know this part of myself, there is no way I could just turn it off. And looking back it just makes sense that we've ended up here too.
ReplyDeleteCute pic!
Misty, Exactly! :) And thank you! Sir and I were trying to beat the heat that day. lol xx
DeleteI don't think anyone who lives this life could just turn it off and walk away. How we act, submissive or Dominant, is a part of our personality. And as we all should know by now, personality changes rarely happen, let alone in the blink of an eye. For those who do leave the life and return to 'nilla land, I don't believe that they were ever really a part of it to begin with. Rather they were just exploring some options to maybe add some variety to their life and decided that it wasn't for them. It's like driving a minivan for years and suddenly changing to a giant SUV but not liking it because of the fuel economy.
ReplyDeleteI used that analogy because, lets face it, the life we live as Doms and subs is not always the most maintenance free or economical (depending on how many toys you want) way to go about things.
Personally, I don't think I could ever transition back to the other side, nor would I want to. I enjoy being Dominant. Not just because of the "power and authority", but because I also like taking care of My pet, making sure her needs are met, and that I have a hand in her development, not only as a sub, but as a person as well.
I would like to think that, at the end of the day, brat is better adjusted and suited for the mundane outside world and its challenges.
So interesting to read your perspective Dirtdart! And love the analogy, it fits :). It's all about finding the place the we thrive the most--I think the both of you are lucky to have found that place early on.
DeleteDaddy/Sir, It makes me so happy to see you jumping in here at blogland and leaving Your thoughts and perspective on things as well. Thank You! And I couldn't agree more. I don't think I could ever transition back, nor would I want to either.
